Post-Quantum transition: strategic and regulatory requirements
Information
Upgrading all our Information and Industrial Systems to make them resilient to the Quantum Threat is a technical imperative with a deadline in the short/mid-term horizon. However, beyond the upcoming technological threat aspect, there are also strategic and business resilience imperatives.
Indeed, on the one hand, recent European Union regulations push for risk-based approaches in maintaining high standards of availability, authenticity, integrity and confidentiality of data, while understanding the possible impact of technological developments. While not mentioning directly the quantum threat, those regulatory requirements take a broad new meaning in the light of recently signed statements from European Union authorities.
On the other hand, international standardization organizations have also set an aggressive timeline for the disallowance of existing systems.
All these draw clear regulatory and business deadlines for migrating, independent from the date when a cryptographically relevant quantum computer will be a reality.
In this talk, Vasco Gomes will highlight the strategic, regulatory compliance and ecosystem interoperability consequences of delaying further the transition to Quantum Safety. He will also remind us of the concrete steps we can take right now to ensure we’re all ready.
