Monitor your domain, protect your business, how to use domain name monitoring in your security strategy

Domain name abuse is far from a new phenomenon, but those abusing existing names to scam, phish or spread malware have become more creative and are casting a wider net. It is no longer limited to banks and governments, but a common occurrence in all sectors and even with SME's. Unfortuantely it is a small part of the total cybersecurity framework and often overlooked.

I have been with SIDN, the company administering .nl, for more than fifteen years. In my talk I will address trends in domain name abuse, illustrated with recent cases. In addition to this I will explain:

- why companies should take action, even if they themselves are not the actual target,

- how domain name abuse can damage your business,

- how to take action quickly and effectively,

- how to detect and act abuse of company visuals (e.g. logos).
